The OnePlus 13 should be one of the first high-end devices of the new generation with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, and new rumors indicate that the device could also bring relevant changes in other aspects. It is expected to feature a panel with curvatures on the sides, in addition to having an integrated ultrasonic biometric sensor.

For comparison purposes, the OnePlus 12 has a fingerprint reader with an optical technology sensor, which is considered simpler and is present in most smartphones that have biometrics on the screen.

The ultrasonic solution can perform faster and more accurate biometric identification, which should provide an additional layer of security for the smartphone. Another advantage is the possibility of unlocking the screen with dirty or wet fingers, for example.

However, the use of the new sensor is not yet guaranteed, as it would be subject to reliability tests by OnePlus.

Other devices that already feature ultrasonic technology include the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which also features a new sensor compared to the previous generation. Even though it is a little more compact, tests have already shown that no significant differences are noticed in speed or accuracy, for example.

As for the device’s screen, it was said that it will have a construction with micro curvatures on the sides. This means that the curves should be less aggressive compared to devices like the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra, which prevents accidental touches.

The screen dimensions of the OnePlus 13 should remain similar to those of its predecessor, at around 6.8 inches. The panel can also feature 2K resolution and LTPO technology, which allows the implementation of variable refresh rates.

Its set of cameras may also feature renewed components, including the arrival of a new periscope lens. However, it is not yet possible to say whether it will offer any improvement over the 3x optical zoom of the OnePlus 12.

A specific date for the launch of the OnePlus 13 has not been announced, but its arrival is likely to take a while. After all, the device should only be announced after Qualcomm shows the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which will take place in October.
