Microsoft will make Windows 10 updates much smaller

-

Microsoft seems committed to bringing many of the latest features to Windows 10 that it brought to Windows 11. Even though the end is already predicted and planned, this system has received important new features. The latest one makes Windows 10 updates much smaller.

We have seen Microsoft make updates to its operating systems much simpler and faster. In addition to being much more focused on features, they also ensure that they are smaller and require much less installation time for users.

This is a scenario that everyone is grateful for and that over time will become even more interesting. These are updates that take much less time to download from the Internet, which then equates to much less time spent installing them on Microsoft systems.

This will soon be the new scenario that users will encounter in Windows 10. Microsoft announced that from now on, the most recent cumulative update (LCU) will arrive with a very significant size reduction, with all the associated gains.

In the example that Microsoft showed when announcing this new feature, the difference is very clear. Devices on Windows 10, version 22H2 will see a size reduction from 830 MB in the April 9, 2024 release (KB5036892) to approximately 650 MB in the April 23, 2024 release (KB5036979).

This reduction in the size of the LCU package offers clear and obvious advantages for Windows 10 users. We talk about the immediate reduction in bandwidth consumed, faster update downloads, minimized network traffic and better performance on slower connections.

It is interesting to see how Microsoft is still interested in updating Windows 10 and providing it with new features, as proven in other Microsoft systems. With the end guaranteed in 2024, this could be an already abandoned system without any improvements coming from Microsoft.
