As with Apple, Huawei also has some plans to start using its own chips to expand into new areas beyond just smartphones.

According to the most recent rumors, Huawei is developing a new set of chips, aimed at being used in computers with the HarmonyOS Next system. These processors, based on the ARM architecture, are focused on performance, and the company intends for them to reach the same category as Apple’s M3.

The chip would be developed within the Kirin line, the current one found in the company’s smartphones, but would focus on processing in multiple cores and final performance. Rumors suggest that this should feature a Mali-920 GPU, support up to 32 GB of RAM and 2 TB of internal storage on the devices.

Rumors also point out that, in addition to this more advanced chip, and focused on portable computers, Huawei may also launch a variant of the Kirin for PCs, with the names Pro and Max. These should focus on the same strategy as Apple, in providing the best possible performance for the environment for which they are intended.

As usual, Huawei has been maintaining some secrecy about its future plans, but it is possible that some news will become known soon.

It is still unknown when these new chips should begin to enter the mass production phase, but taking into account the information, development is still at an early stage, so it may take some time to happen.
