The agreement with the economic publication comes just over a month after similar partnerships with the French Le Monde and the Spanish group Prisa Media, which publishes titles such as El País, Cinco Días or As.

OpenAI, owner of ChatGPT, established a strategic partnership with the Financial Times, indicating the company that developed the most popular Artificial Intelligence (AI) model.

The partnership will allow ChatGPT users to access summaries, quotes and links from the Financial Times (FT) in response to relevant questions.

The company also reveals that the FT became a ChatGPT Enterprise customer this year, giving all Financial Times employees access to ChatGPT.

“This is an important agreement in several ways. It recognizes the value of our award-winning journalism and gives us advance insights into how content emerges through AI”, says FT group CEO, John Ridding, quoted in the statement.

“The FT is committed to human journalism, produced by our journalists, and this agreement will broaden the reach of its work and, at the same time, deepen our understanding of readers’ demands and interests,” he added. “In addition to the benefits for the FT, the agreement has broader implications for the industry. It is fair, of course, for AI platforms to pay publishers for the use of their materials. OpenAI understands the importance of transparency, attribution and compensation, all essential aspects for us”, he concluded.

In March, OpenAI signed similar agreements with the French Le Monde and the Spanish group Prisa Mediawhich publishes titles such as El País, Cinco Días or As.
