A Apple will be in talks with OpenAI, owner of ChatGPT, for a possible partnership. The information was released over the weekend by Bloomberg and had already been mentioned by Mashable. Both means guarantee that the Apple is preparing a product with an intelligent assistant and is interested in using OpenAI technology in this project, which should be announced at Apple’s annual programmers conference in June.

As Mashable first mentioned, the Apple will have spoken to several artificial intelligence companies to find the right partnership for a product you intend to launch and that will allow interaction with a chatbot.

A OpenAI was one of the companies discussed in these conversations at the beginning of the year. The two companies have now returned to the negotiating table, according to Bloomberg, which goes further and says that the integration of OpenAI technology into iOS18 may be at stake.

The agency also guarantees that two companies have not yet been able to reach an understanding and that Apple continues to work simultaneously on other possibilities, including possibility of integrating Google’s Gemini on the iPhone.

There have also been reports indicating that Apple teams are working on an improved version of Siri, so that you can better understand the context of conversations and information on the device’s screen. The basis of these improvements will be a language model capable of running on the device itself, less demanding in terms of data volumes.

In February, and gathering information from various sources, we had already written that the Apple would be working with four artificial intelligence modelsto prepare the new features driven by generative artificial intelligence that it wants to integrate into the next version of the operating system. Two were developed by the company itself, based on its proprietary Ajax framework, and are the basis of the AppleGPT already referenced in several rumors, which the company has allegedly already been using internally. The company will also be doing tests with the model based on ChatGPT and with Google’s Flan-T5to compare results.

It was already mentioned at that time that the Siri would be one of the big stars of the AI news that Apple is expected to be preparing for the main annual event. The iPhone assistant will reportedly win the ability to summarize ideas and information, to respond to orders such as “please summarize this text”. The new functionality will allegedly work, both with messaging applications – such as iMessages – and with SMS. At this time, it was said that Apple’s concerns about privacy were motivating development of an internal AI model that runs locally on equipment instead of processing data in the cloud.
