WhatsApp adds shortcut to forward channel messages

A new WhatsApp update for iPhone releases a shortcut to the public that makes it easier to share channel messages with other groups or contacts. Along with the reaction icons at the end of a message, there is a new button for forwarding the content.

The news arrives with version 24.8.85 of the messenger for iOS already being distributed to everyone through the App Store.

In the application’s version history on the App Store, the description lists new features already implemented in previous WhatsApp updates, such as the ability to record and send videos by long-pressing the camera icon and the ability to fast forward or rewind playback with a tap double on the sides of the screen.

What the update new to the public is a button to forward channel messages more quickly. The new arrow appears in the bottom corner of communications sent on WhatsApp channels and eliminates the need to open the options menu to share a message.

By tapping the button — similar to an option to forward video messages that appeared in the Beta version last week — you can quickly send the message to other contacts and groups or even use the announcement as a status update.

The feature is another feature of the application to encourage people to use and participate in the channels. The shortcut for forwarding messages can help publicize these spaces and increase public engagement.

Passkeys in WhatsApp for iOS

Last week, the version of WhatsApp for iOS also gained support for passkeys — a method that eliminates the use of traditional passwords and adopts biometrics, password managers or another device to grant access to an account or service — months after debuting on the application from messenger for Android.
