Google Photos with video editing? Yes, it’s really true!

Google Photos is preparing to add a new video editing feature that will allow you to improve your videos with the tap of a single button. Android Authority contributor Assemble Debug spotted this feature in Google Photos version 6.81.0.628906483. It is currently not available to everyone, but it was possible to put this new feature to work.

Google Photos with video editing? Yes, it’s really true!

Called “Enhance Your Video”, the new Google Photos editing feature shows us a magic wand icon next to the stabilization button on the left when you start editing a video. Automatically adjusts the brightness, contrast, saturation and other qualities of a video to make it more attractive.

Processing takes some time and also depends on the length of the video you are enhancing. However, all of this happens on the device. You can save the new version as a copy once the automatic improvements are applied to the video.

In a comparison between a normal video and an enhanced video created with the new Google Photos feature, the edited version clearly has higher contrast and saturation levels.

It is not known when Google intends to launch the new “Improve your video” feature, but it shouldn’t be too far away.

But this is not the only new feature that comes with this version.

It is true that at this moment we have already managed to prevent anyone from appearing in the memories. A kind of block. However this is different. In fact, AndroidAuthority’s Assemble Debug found a new feature in Google Photos v6.81.0.628906483. Soon, you will have the option to “Show less” so that a face does not appear in memories, but is still visible in your group photos. This appears to be a softer version of the “Lock Face” option, which makes faces disappear completely from Memories and group photos.

The “People and Pets” section in Google Photos, where you name the faces that appear in your photos, will have a new “Hide Face from Memories” section, as you can see in the first screenshot above. When you add a face to the section, the dialog box in the second screenshot opens.

A new definitions flow will also be created to accommodate the change. You can access it through Settings > Preferences > Memories > Hide people and pets.

This new functionality is not currently available in the app. Google is currently testing the functionality in the app, so it could arrive in the future. It is not clear if and when it will be implemented, but considering its usefulness in keeping some unpleasant memories at bay, we hope it will be implemented soon.
