Helldivers 2 is removed from Steam in over 170 countries

-

If the year started with Helldivers 2 breaking records, being successful and being the talk of the season for games, it seems that the game has taken a very sudden turn in recent days. All due to the requirement to create a PlayStation account to play it on computers – a Sony decision that generated huge controversy around the world.

And the news now, via Steam DB, is that the game has just been removed from the PC online gaming platform in over 170 regions; Brazil is not one of them. So far, neither Sony nor Arrowhead have taken a position on this. Some regions, however, likely suffered removal due to the fact that they did not have access to the PlayStation Network.

Bombarded with negative reviews on Steam in recent days, the acclaimed cooperative shooter saw, for the first time, the bad side of the industry. This wave of hate motivated the studio’s CEO to issue an apology, stating that he just wants to create good games.

Studio knew about Helldivers 2’s link with PSN, but didn’t warn

In a statement released by Sony on Steam, the company said it had stopped creating accounts on the PlayStation system due to the large number of connection errors presented at launch. The number of crash reports made Arrowhead worry only about fixing the game.

As the months went by, everything came together and Helldivers 2 grew, causing the studio to expand the capacity of the servers to receive more audiences and thus serve everyone. The whole problem? The studio already knew about the implementation of this security measure with PSN, but did not alert fans. Understand better here.
