In March of this year, YouTube began testing — with a few users subscribing to the Premium plan — an unprecedented tool powered by AI (Artificial Intelligence). Now, big tech has made the news available to more subscribers.

The resource in question is displayed when the user double-clicks on the video to advance a few seconds. A pill-shaped button appears with the words “jump ahead”, jumping to the part of the video where people watch the most, possibly concentrating the most relevant information in the content.

The new functionality can be useful for those who do not want to “waste time” watching long videos or to acquire specific information. So, users looking for something specific in videos for educational purposes, for example, can save time by getting straight to the point with the new function.

The tool uses artificial intelligence to analyze data relating to the sections where platform users go the most and recommends jumping to the most watched section. The feature is part of a broader strategy to implement AI on the video platform.

For now, the tool is only available for the Android version of the application and only for content originally produced in English.

YouTube is investing heavily in AI

Late last year, YouTube introduced Create. It is a new platform aimed at creators having greater convenience when creating shorts or even long videos. The main highlight of the new feature are the features powered by artificial intelligence.

In addition to editing features common in popular editors, YouTube Create has the possibility of noise reduction, intelligent background removal and automatic subtitle addition. For now, the beta version of the service is available in the US, UK, France, Germany, South Korea, Indonesia, India and Singapore.
