The Gemini Android app should receive a YouTube Music extension soon, capable of giving access to the account’s favorite music history and helping to personalize the chatbot’s responses.
The feature is still under development, but some information about the new feature was found in the AI app’s code and shared by the Android Authority website. Gemini would have access to various information about the user’s YouTube Music account, such as playback history, saved playlists and other settings.
With the function active, Gemini could be used to search, play and suggest songs from the music streaming catalog. The integration is still under development, so it may receive other abilities until the final version is released.
The Gemini extensions area allows you to link to other Google services and extract information from these platforms to improve the quality of answers. YouTube itself already has an integration with the assistant to collect information from videos, for example, and the Brazilian version of the app also allows you to access data from Google Maps, Google Hotels, Google Flights and Google Workspace.
Gemini in Brazil
The Gemini app for Android finally arrived in Brazil after a few months of waiting. The chatbot can be downloaded from the Play Store and replaces the Google Assistant on the device, in addition to supporting the extensions already mentioned.
There is no app for the tool for iOS, but the company has already confirmed that it will soon release access to generative AI from the Google app on the iPhone.
