Huawei Watch Fit 3: we reveal the biggest highlights of the new smartwatch

-

Huawei has just launched a new wearable in its already vast and varied portfolio. The Watch Fit 3 arrives two years after the launch of its predecessor and brings with it a handful of new features, ranging from a square design to a more user-friendly and even more complete interface.

For a week we lived day to day with the new Watch Fit 3, exploring its new features and the “Fashion Squared” design concept, presented by the brand in its first square smartwatch.

Square design and its attractions

Looking at the smartwatch market, the dominance of the round format is visible and Huawei wants to break this situation with its first square model. The design of the Watch Fit 3 was developed within the Fashion Squared concept and arrives with an aesthetic that aims to attract users who want a visually unique watch that is also a fashion piece.

But the attractions of this square design don’t stop there. The square dial also allows the display of a large amount of information on a single screen and an optimized reading of that information, in indoor and outdoor environments.

In terms of wearing comfort, the square design fits well on the user’s wrist and due to its 9.9 millimeters of thickness and just 26 grams (without bracelet) it is very comfortable to wear, not representing additional weight when resting. or practicing any physical activity.

Complementing the square design are two buttons that facilitate navigation through the wearable and make it very intuitive. The button, located on the bottom right side, with a simple touch gives immediate access to the various modes and resources for practicing physical activity.

The button in the upper area, also on the right side, directs the user to the main menu. But this button has a trick up its sleeve: its rotating crown. By turning the crown, all menu icons not only become larger, but also gain captions.

This is an especially useful attribute for anyone using a Huawei smartwatch for the first time and who is not yet properly familiar with the brand’s graphics. But it also proves to be very functional for those who already know Huawei smartwatches well, as it makes it easier to read the available options.

To meet each user’s style demands, the Watch Fit 3 has several straps available. Namely: green, pink, white and black in fluoroelastomer, gray in nylon and white in leather. These can be easily changed using the simple and quick fitting system. One touch of the dedicated button and the bracelet comes off easily, and then you just need to fit the new bracelet.

The icing on the cake are the new and exclusive watchfaces that have now been made available and which add yet another way of interacting and having fun with this wearable.

In short, the Watch Fit 3’s streamlined, square-shaped body suits any occasion or style. The model is elegant with its 9.9 mm thickness and 26 g weight and also adds elegance due to its careful design and premium style.

Varied compatibility and easy pairing

Huawei Watch Fit 3 pairing

One of the relevant points to take into account when purchasing a new smartwatch is its compatibility with the smartphone the user already has. And in this field, the Watch Fit 3 shows a lot of versatility.

Obviously it is compatible with Huawei terminals, but it also includes support for both Android and iOS smartphones. Yes, whatever the brand of your phone, the Watch Fit 3 will pair amicably and you won’t have to justify buying a new model.

Speaking of pairing, it is quite simple and quick and is done using integrated Bluetooth 5.2 technology. Just activate this feature on both devices to find each other and then just follow all the steps given on the screen.

For Huawei smartphone users, pairing can also be done through the brand’s Health application via a QR Code.

Champion autonomy of up to 10 days

Huawei watch fit 3 autonomy

When we are faced with a device that was designed to be used 24 hours a day, seven days a week, autonomy is a highlight. Huawei announces a battery life of up to 10 days, with a single charge, under so-called normal use.

With more intensive use of the equipment, the brand warns that autonomy could drop to seven days. This article reports on a week’s experience with the Watch Fit 3 and the advertised times were verified.

The wearable was charged at the beginning of the week and arrived at the end of that week with a charge for a few more days. It should be noted that all features were activated and that the GPS was used at three different times during this period of time.

The integrated 400 mAh battery stoically endured the entire experience. It takes approximately 60 minutes to fully charge, but a quick 10-minute charge allows regular operation for an entire day.

Charging is done via a magnetic pin system, similar to its predecessor. But with the Watch Fit 3 there is no need for gymnastics or a special way for the pins to attach very easily to the rear panel of the wearable.

Spacious and bright screen

The Watch Fit 3’s 2.5D AMOLED display is 1.82 inches and provides a resolution of 408 by 408 pixels. The screen/body ratio stands at 77.43%. What’s more: this model offers 1500 nits of brightness and also automatic adjustment of the various levels of brightness.

In practice, these technical specifications translate into optimized visibility of all content displayed on the screen when we are outdoors. The generous size of the screen helps you to read all the data displayed very well.

During physical activity, the data is displayed in an easy-to-read size and, even with the sun shining overhead, smaller information – such as the time or battery status – is easily perceptible.

Another interesting point is that the screen lights up when it “feels” that the user turns their wrist to look at the display. It doesn’t fail to pay attention and allows information such as time, date, steps taken and even quick access to some sports and health resources to be consulted at any time.

But when it’s time to rest, whether at night or during an unexpected nap, the screen also feels the “state of grace” of the resting body and its light turns off so as not to disturb you.

Motivator for an active lifestyle

Huawei Watch Fit 3 activity rings

This smartwatch is a motivator, par excellence, for practicing an active style. The updated interface brings with it activity rings that show – in graphs and numbers – the time the user is standing, the exercise done and the movement and calories burned. Yes, trying to fill in the circles is a strong motivation for a more active life.

Then we have Huawei TruSport, which includes more than 100 sport modes, with four new features: football, basketball, padel and e-sports. This model also has training modes for track running, outdoor running, indoor running, jumping rope, swimming in a pool and even swimming in open water.

The Watch Fit 3 also has the ability to formulate personalized training plans, based on the user’s physical condition. And as a bonus, the new Track Running mode. It uses the GNSS positioning chip to accurately record the user’s running route, as well as the distance covered and the pace achieved.

There is no shortage of options for serious athletes and with so much variety, beginners or less enthusiastic sports enthusiasts will feel motivated to “get involved”.

Advanced health monitoring

The Huawei Watch Fit 3 brings with it some new features aimed at health. TruSleep 4.0 technology provides detailed analysis of the user’s sleep quality and patterns.

Data on sleep phases is now available, as well as physiological indicators such as heart rate, oxygen saturation and respiratory rate. This way, you can detect interruptions in breathing and help detect sleep apnea, if that is the case.

Huawei Watch Fit 3 heartbeat

The Watch Fit 3 has another nice feature: it can detect naps and allows you to set a rest time outside of the night. This feature can be very useful for all users who like to recover energy in the middle of the day.

In turn, TruSeen 5.5 technology has also been updated and now provides more accurate monitoring of heart rate and blood oxygen levels, as well as daily stress levels. All parameters are permanently visible, in colored graphics.
