The Amazon Prime streaming platform will show ads when users pause videos. That’s right, the company’s plan is to show subscribers different ad formats in case they pause the broadcast for any reason.

Owner of hits such as The Boys, Fallout and Oppenheimer, Amazon Prime Video will increase advertising offers. Numerous platforms like Netflix have recently increased subscription prices and offer users basic plans with streaming ads.

Amazon’s Prime Video is the latest company to up the ad bet. The idea of showing ads when the user pauses the broadcast is quite invasive, as you usually stop the video for reasons such as: going to the bathroom, answering the phone or looking for what you ordered on iFood.

This way, the pause does not become a real pause, but rather the platform’s opportunity to play more ads during content transmission. Currently, the company has not officially commented on the decision.

Amazon Prime Video has not yet announced how the new ad system will work

Interestingly, Prime Video streaming has the interesting X-Ray function, where extra information about the actors and show appears on the screen, while you pause the content. With the decision to show more ads, We don’t know exactly how both tools will coexist.

Perhaps the plans are to show ads on the base plans, while the X-Ray function will be exclusive to the more expensive subscription plans. Certainly, current Prime Video subscribers were not happy with the increase in ads in streaming.

Likewise, rumors suggest that the ad template will include a “carousel”, where users can select different Amazon products. Redirection is done immediately for the subscriber to complete the purchase.

When you select the product with the remote control, the item goes directly to the shopping cart in your Amazon account. The strategy seems clear and Amazon wants to increase its sales revenue directly through ads on Prime Video.

The program has not been officially revealed, but the company should soon release more details about the future of the streaming service. Just like with platforms like Netflix, users probably won’t be happy about this.
