The favorites list started to appear in WhatsApp Beta for Android. Recently, Meta released the feature that places the contacts with whom you are most close or talk to frequently highlighted in the “Calls” tab — the function appeared in version 2.24.7.18 of the Android application.
Favorites on WhatsApp
The new feature has a similar behavior to the cell phone calendar, which positions the most important contacts at the top of the list. This process works through manual selection, in which the user chooses the highlights to make new calls via the Meta messenger.
This way you can keep, for example, your parents, grandparents, companions or best friends on top. If you prefer, you can also select commercial establishments or even business partners, if you use the telephone line for work. In all cases, the tool helps you make calls with fewer touches and more quickly.
Contact selection is also carried out in the “Calls” tab, using the “Add to favorites” button. The phone numbers will then be available in the “Favorites” section, above the list of recent voice or video calls.
Despite its debut in WhatsApp Beta, there is still no release date for the feature in the stable version of the application.

New features
Other new features were recently implemented on WhatsApp, such as the shortcut to fast forward and rewind videos with two taps on the screen. The messenger’s developers also released the option to pin up to 3 messages in a conversation so no one misses important notices, for example.
There are also more features in the works, such as the option to preset photo and video quality and AI capabilities for photo search and editing.
