Mother of newborn raped to death by her father is “about to collapse” and still “calls for the baby”, says lawyer

Emanuelle Souza, mother of 27-day-old newborn who was raped to death last Friday (10) in Araruama (RJ), is in “sudden emotional shock” and “on the point of collapse”according to the lawyer Leticia Delmindowhich accompanies the case. the prime suspect having committed the brutal crime, and who is imprisoned in Benfica, in Rio de Janeiro, is the baby’s fatheridentified as Jhoão Paulo da Silva, 23 years old.

The man was arrested on Saturday (11) at his daughter’s funeral, in the city of Cabo Frio, on the charge of rape of vulnerable qualified by the result in death. He denies the crime, but Emanuelle’s testimony and expertise carried out by the Legal Medical Institute (IML) point to the fact that, in fact, he raped the newborn.

The mother told the police that, on the day of the crime, she bathed her daughter, named Luz, and put her to sleep. At dawn, she breastfed the girl and, soon after, fell asleep. The father would then have taken the baby away from the mother’s eyes and committed the crime.. Lawyer Letícia Delmindo, in interview with Portal RC24h this Thursday (16), revealed that, upon waking up, Emanuelle went to get her daughter in the stroller and noticed that the baby was “pretty cool”.

According to an investigation carried out by the IML, “the victim was killed due to a penetration that occurred in the intimate parts of the newborn, which caused a great laceration in the child’s fragile body”.

The lawyer revealed, in the interview, that Emanuelle is “On the verge of collapse. She is very emotional, shaken. She cries, calls for the baby. It’s desperate”.

“Emanuelle never imagined that she would be facing such a heinous situation. She is a very affectionate girl, very zealous (…) This relationship that she had, she never imagined that she was facing an aggressor, especially her daughter. has been contributing to the investigations,” said the lawyer.

Investigations are being conducted by the 118th Police Station (118th DP) of Araruama. The suspect, who underwent a custody hearing, remains incarcerated and, according to lawyer Letícia Delmindo, should be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison for the crime of rape of a vulnerable person resulting in death.
