At the Mundus Vini Spring Tasting Competition, which took place in February, Conde D’Ervideira Branco 2022 was awarded Gold, being the second time it has won this medal and the seventh time it has reached the podium in this competition alone.
This wine competition is one of the most prestigious internationally and one of the biggest blind tastings in the wine sector, which took place at the end of February in Germany. After being awarded Silver four times, Gold once and Big Goldanother, this Ervideira reference receives Gold again.
Ervideira, a well-recognized name in the wine sector in Portugal and beyond, has been producing since 1880 and in its origins has the mission of creating truly unique wines – in flavor, texture and the moments they provide.
Duarte Leal da Costa, Executive Director of Ervideira, in a note sent to our editors, highlighted this distinction: “Only 40% of wines are awarded in the Mundus Vini competition, and gold medals are only awarded to truly excellent wines. This victory represents for us the consistency of a wine over 22 consecutive Editions, which reinforces that, each time it goes to competition, it brings awards, representing quality and excellence for the consumer. Conde D’Ervideira Branco was awarded 28 times, in the 22 editions of awards for which it has already competed, making it an enormous pride for the Ervideira ‘family’ to have a wine in which every time we enter competitions, this wine is recognized”.
Behind Conde D’Ervideira Branco 2022, the “nectar” now distinguished, is a vineyard from Antão Vaz (Vinha IV), planted in shale soils on the Monte da Ribeira property, in the case of a 2000 vineyard that, Since its inception, it has produced excellent wines. The grapes are harvested at night, left in cold skin maceration for around 8 hours, cold decanted and immediately followed by fermentation in Hungarian oak barrels, where they age for 6 months.
