Man who confessed to killing tourist after carnival party becomes defendant and has temporary arrest converted into preventive | Pernambuco

The Court accepted the complaint offered by the Public Ministry of Pernambuco (MPPE) against the man who was arrested and confessed to having murdered tourist Talles do Couto Lemgruber Kropf, on February 14th. Edva Alexandre da Silva was charged with the crime of robbery, which is robbery followed by death.

The accused’s temporary detention was converted into preventive this Thursday (14).

The complaint against him was filed by the Capital Inquiry Center at the Court of Justice of Pernambuco (TJPE) on March 7th. On the same date, the 13th Criminal Court of the Capital accepted the complaint, but the judge in charge of the court, Roberto Jordão de Vasconcelos, converted the temporary detention of the accused into preventive detention only this Thursday (14). According to the magistrate’s decision, “to guarantee public order and the application of criminal law”.

• Edva Alexandre da Silva was arrested on February 23rd in a housing complex in Pina, in the South Zone of Recife (see video above);
• A TV Globo found that he had been arrested previously and had even been released from jail on January 31st;
• At a press conference, delegate Caio Morais, from the 3rd Homicide Police Station, said that Edva confessed to the crime and that he is homeless — who lived without a fixed address and committed crimes;
• According to the police chief, Edva saw the tourist walking down a dark street and considered him an easy target;
• Caio Morais also said that the stab was so strong that the knife blade remained inside the tourist’s body;
• Also according to the police chief, Edva claimed that she sold the victim’s stolen cell phone for R$200 and used the money to buy drugs;
• Caio Morais reported that the arrest was possible after the police collected images from security cameras from various angles and carried out image processing work, in addition to working with the intelligence area;
• After taking the forensic examination at the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML), Edva was sent to the Everardo Luna Criminological Observation and Screening Center (Cotel), in Abreu e Lima, in Greater Recife.

• The crime took place in the early hours of Ash Wednesday (14);
• According to friends, the tourist stopped, alone, to eat at a bar close to where the group of nine people were staying;
• At 0:25 am, he sent the last message to his friends, who reported that he was conscious and even gave the address where he was staying;
• On the way back to where he was staying, Talles Kropf was robbed and stabbed;
• He was helped by a friend, who is a doctor;
• The victim was taken by the Military Police to the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) of Imbiribeira, in the South Zone of Recife, also in the South Zone, but he did not survive his injuries.
