The investigation into those responsible for the murder of councilor Marielle Franco (PSOL) and driver Anderson Gomes reached the Federal Supreme Court (STF). The case was sent to the Court after the possible involvement of a person with privileged jurisdiction was identified, according to TV Globo.

Marielle and Anderson were killed exactly six years ago, on March 14, 2018, shot inside the car they were traveling in in the central region of Rio de Janeiro. Family members, friends and other victims of violence protested against the crime earlier today in the city center.

The investigation is under judicial secrecy, and it is not possible to obtain the details of the investigation that led the Federal Police (PF) and the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) to send the case to the STF.

In criminal matters, the Supreme Court is responsible for judging authorities with privileged jurisdiction, such as federal deputies and senators. But the reason for the shipment was not confirmed by the PF.
