According to the Fire Department, which had five vehicles in the rescue team, witnesses reported that the aircraft lost altitude and impacted the ground before catching fire. The accident occurred in the town of Sereia, on a farm next to a candle factory.

Rural worker Edson also described the accident. He witnessed the scene.
“We were working. When I saw it, the plane was low and we ran. It hit the tree and then the ground, already on fire. We tried to help him [o piloto]we got close, but the fire was very high”, he narrated.

The Seneca PT-REY registration plane had six seats and belonged to the “conventional landing” class, according to a record verified in the Brazilian Aeronautical Registry (RAB) consultation system.
