Two teenagers die in accident on BA-652, in the south of the state
Two teenagers died and three were injured after a truck overturned in the early hours of Saturday (16), on BA-652, in Ibirapitanga, in the south of Bahia. The information is from the Independent Road Policing Company of Itabuna.
There are still no details of what caused the vehicle to roll over. The teenagers who died were identified as Isabelly Santos Águiar, 14 years old, and Lara Luiza de Jesus Santos Silva18 years old.
The other three victims were taken to the Itabuna Base Hospital, but their health status was not disclosed.
Initial information is that a 17-year-old teenager was driving the vehicle occupied by five other teenagers. The other two injured were also 17 years old and the sixth occupant of the truck did not have his age detailed.
According to the Technical Police Department (DPT) of Ilhéus, a city almost 104 km from Ibirapitanga, the two teenagers died at Aurelino Leal Hospital, also in the south of the state, and the bodies will be taken to the department. They will then be released for burial.
Isabelly and Lara Luiza lived in the city of Ubaitaba and the city hall issued a note of condolence for their deaths.
The victims from the same family were identified as: Sandra Almeida Moreira dos Santos, 25 years old; her husband, Breno Pereira dos Santos, 37 years old, and the couple’s son, Enrico Moreira dos Santos4 years old.
The victims’ youngest daughter is one year old and was the only survivor in the vehicle. She was taken by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) to Nanuque Hospital, in Minas Gerais, the city where the family lived. There is no information about the child’s health status.
The fourth victim who succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident was Masumi Tokunaga, 57 years old. He was a resident of Nova Viçosa and was traveling on the highway in a pickup truck when the crash occurred. It was not known whether he was alone in the vehicle.
In addition to the four victims who died at the scene, three people were involved in the accident, but were unharmed.
The bodies of the victims were sent to the Technical Police Department (DPT) of Teixeira de Freitas, a city about 100 km from Nova Viçosa.
