Suspects promised reward to killer of man killed in grocery store parking lot in SC

The couple suspected of involvement in the murder of a man that occurred in the parking lot of a supermarket in the west of Santa Catarina promised a reward to the perpetrators of the crime, according to Civil Police investigations. The victim was killed on Monday (11), in São Lourenço do Oeste. A ex-wife and her boyfriend were arrested one day after the crime and are named as the masterminds.

On Monday (18), two other people were arrested in the cities of Antônio Carlos and Barra Velha. The men are indicated by the police as the executor and agent of the murder.

During the police action, 16 firearms were seized from the man arrested in Barra Velha. He was taken to the Itajaí Police Station and, in addition to the murder, could be charged with illegal possession of weapons.

Now, investigations continue to determine all the circumstances of the incident, including the motivation for the crime.

Remember the case

The crime occurred on Avenida Brasil, in the center of São Lourenço do Oeste. The victim was leaving the supermarket when he was surprised by a man wearing a helmet on a motorcycle, who shot him a few times and then fled.

With support from the Scientific Police, the police managed to locate the motorcycle and pistol that would have been used in the crime. The items were hidden in a wooded area and the weapon was located with the help of the dog “Colleman”, from the Dog Operations Unit (NOC) of the 28th Regional Police Station.

The victim was identified as Juari Perão. He had police tickets by persecution and failure to comply with an urgent protective measure.

The arrests of the 48-year-old man and the 41-year-old woman took place one day after the investigation began. The Civil Police investigation indicated that the victim’s ex-wife had masterminded her ex’s death in collusion with her current partner, who helped carry out the murder.
