The school bus that fell next to a bridge on Estrada da Grota, in Taquara, late on Monday afternoon (18), was removed from the scene on Tuesday.

According to Pedreira Gelinger employee, Julio Cesar da Silva Antônio, the vehicle was removed at around 3:30 pm.

There were 13 students from Escola Dona Leopoldina and the driver on the bus. The children are between 4 and 9 years old and are students in preschool 1 and 2 and in the 1st to 3rd year of elementary school.

Health status of hospitalized children

Yesterday, two students – a girl and a boy – were still hospitalized at the Canoas Emergency Care Hospital (HPSC), both aged 5. The student did not need to undergo surgery. The student, on the other hand, underwent a surgical procedure yesterday.

The girl’s transfer to Parobé hospital has not yet occurred. According to the mother, community health agent Ludmila de Mattos da Silva, the Vale do Paranhana hospital requested a neurological evaluation to accept the child.

“I’m waiting for the doctor. I came to evaluate her this morning, to see what he will say”, said Ludmilla this Wednesday. The boy does not have a discharge date yet.

“He had some minor injuries and a fractured pelvis. I still don’t know what procedure will be done. Initially, you won’t need surgery. He is still in the hospital, due to pain in his little leg, which he cannot move properly. I was about to hear back from the doctor this morning,” said Diego da Silva Araújo’s mother, industrialist Tamires Ariane da Silva.
