The trial of those involved in the murders of Laércio José Moreira, aged 54 at the time, and his wife, Helena Maria da Costa Moreira, 50, began this Wednesday (20/3). 2022, at QNP 32, in Ceilândia.
The Civil Police of the Federal District (PCDF) discovered that the murders were motivated by a dispute over the point of sale of snacks and the prices of drumsticks sold by the couple and the main accused in Águas Claras (read more below).
Shooting death of couple in DF occurred due to difference in the price of coxinha
According to investigations, on the date of the crime, Hyago Lorran Franco (featured photo), 29 years old, gathered three childhood friends — all residents of Recanto das Emas — and to, in his words, “scare him”.
Aboard a red Palio belonging to a friend who was not involved in the crime, the group left for Laércio’s house. The driver, identified as a teenager, remained in the vehicle, while the other three got out and entered the residence.
According to investigations, the criminals would have kneeled the victims and shot Laércio and Helena in the head and neck, respectively. The victims died hugging each other.
Then, they took cell phones, a television, money and the couple’s car, which was used in the escape. Later, the accused abandoned the stolen objects in a nearby forest and discharged the powder fire extinguisher throughout the vehicle to try to erase the fingerprints. They then left him in a car wash in Recanto das Emas.
Fight over price of coxinha
As PCDF reported at the time, Hyago sold snacks near a college in Águas Claras, where the victims also worked selling the same product. The confusion between them began after a renovation at the educational institution forced Laércio to change the point of sale for birth at the Hyago stand.
After investigations, the police authority concluded that the difference in prices for savory snacks was the trigger for the disagreement between the traders. Laércio looked for Hyago for a talk, but argued with the boy and almost fought with him. After that, he was threatened. “Laércio sold a coxinha for R$5, and the other sold it for R$4”, explained the case delegate at the time.
The four defendants are facing the Jury Court for qualified homicide, for a base motive and with no chance of defense for the victims, in addition to corruption of minors for those over 18 years of age. The penalty for each crime varies from 6 to 20 years.
