This Sunday morning, the Federal Police preventively arrested three suspects in the investigation into the death of councilor Marielle Franco and driver Anderson Gomes. The operation targeted federal deputy Chiquinho Brazão (União-RJ) and the counselor of the Court of Auditors of the State of Rio Domingos Brazão, suspected of being the masterminds of the crime, and delegate Rivaldo Barbosa, who headed the Rio Civil Police and allegedly acted to protect them. The three arrested this Sunday deny the accusation. According to investigators, there was a potential risk of escape and it was necessary to surprise those involved in the case, which is why the operation was carried out this weekend. The dispute over land in the West Zone of Rio, motivated by the expansion of the militia, may be behind the crime.
