Four people died and at least seven were injured after one of the cars participating in a rally in Hungary this Sunday (March 24) left the road and collided with race spectators, the country’s authorities said.

According to a police statement, the car that was taking part in the Esztergom Nyerges Rally, in the north of the country, left the road and ended up heading towards the spectators, without the details of the accident being known at this point.

Immediately after the tragedy, which occurred between the cities of Labatlan and Bajot, the race was stopped.

The police are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
