A man and a woman, who are brothers, were shot dead in Camaçari, in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador, on Saturday night (23). The case is investigated by the Civil Police (PC) and so far no one has been arrested.
According to the Military Police, the crime occurred on Rua Itamaraju, in the Verdes Horizontes neighborhood. When they arrived at the scene, the agents called the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), however, the two were already dead.
The victims were identified as Airane Duarte de Lima Reis, 31 years old, and Edson Duarte de Lima, 30 years old. They are brothers of Gideão Duarte de Lima, who has been in prison since the end of last year, suspected of involvement in the death of gospel singer Sara Freitaswhich took place in October 2023. There is no information whether the murders are related.
The Civil Police reported that there are no clues about the authorship or motivation of the double homicide, investigated by the 4th Homicide Police Station, in Camaçari. In the note, the PC detailed that initial information given by witnesses indicates that the shots were fired by a man, who was on board a motorcycle and then fled.
Military police officers searched, but did not locate the shooter. Furthermore, the teams isolated the location and contacted the Technical Police Department (DPT) to remove the bodies and carry out forensic examinations. There are no details about the burials of Airane and Edson.
According to lawyer Carlos Augusto Vaz, who represents Gideão Duarte de Lima, the target of the shooting was Edson, due to his alleged involvement in drug trafficking, however, Ariane was close to him and ended up shot in the action. The Civil Police does not confirm this version. According to him, Gideon was not aware of the death of his brothers until early Sunday evening (24).
Brother arrested for involvement in crime that shocked the country
Gideão is imprisoned in the Mata Escura Penitentiary Complex, in Salvador, where there are also three other suspects involved in the death of Sara Freitas: Victor Gabriel Oliveira Neves, Weslen Pablo Correia de Jesus, known as Bishop Zadoque, and Ederlan Mariano, who was married to the victim – the family asked that the press no longer call the singer “Sara Mariano”, so as not to associate her with her ex-husband’s surname.
The singer was last seen on October 24, when she left the house where she lived in the Valéria neighborhood, in the capital of Bahia, heading to a women’s meeting in a church. Sara even posted on social media that she was on her way to Dias D’Ávila hours before she disappeared.
She would be taken to the location by a trusted driver, Gideon Duarte, which had already provided this service previously. After getting into the car, the singer disappeared. To transport the artist, he borrowed a vehicle from another person, known in religious circles as Apostle Hugo, who is not considered suspected of involvement in the act.

In addition to those directly involved in the execution of Sara Freitas, another man identified as “singer Davi Oliveira” appears in the division of the money. He would have received R$200 as a “courtesy”, because he knew of the plan to kill Sara Freitas, but did not participate in any phase of the crime.
