Suspects of the Moscow attack appeared in court with signs of aggression

The four suspects in the attack in Moscow that killed more than 130 people on Friday appeared in court this Sunday with signs of aggression on their faces – from their eyes, bruised and swollen, to their ears, covered with bandages. One of them appeared in a hospital chair, unresponsive.

Images released by international news agencies suggest that the alleged attackers were tortured after being detained by Russian authorities. Faced with these allegations, the Kremlin neither confirms nor denies.

At a press conference, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was asked by CNN International about the signs of physical attacks on the suspects. “One of them is in a wheelchair and has his eyes closed. (…) What happened to them?” asked a CNN International reporter.

To this question, Dmitry Peskov only replied: “No, I leave this question unanswered.”
