Filling the pantry is (again) more expensive: pasta, cereals and apples lead increases

The total price of the basket of essential products rose by almost one euro in the last week. Pasta, cereal flakes and Gala apples are the food products that have increased the most in price this month.

According to DECO, the food basket of essential goods now costs just over 238 euroswhen a year ago it was possible to buy the same products for twelve euros less.

In the last week alone, the basket rose 77 cents and two weeks ago the price was also 77 cents lower.

Pasta is one of the foods that has risen the most. There is two weeks ago it was possible to buy a package of spaghetti for 1.11 euros, but the same package now costs 1.27 euros, an increase of 14%.

The same happened with spiral pasta – the price rose 8%, the equivalent of 11 cents, to 1.47 euros.

Also on the list of foods that have increased in price the most are cereal flakes and whole grains, which rose by an average of 30 cents per package.

In the fruit section, the Gala apple was the one that registered the biggest price increase: a kilo now costs 2.35 euros, 29 cents more than two weeks ago.
