NThis Wednesday morning, the FC Porto Academy project was presented by the architects, the club’s financial administrator Fernando Gomes and Pinto da Costa, the club president and candidate for a new term, in the VIP gallery at Estádio do Dragão.
To close the ceremony, after the architects and Fernando Gomes had spoken, Pinto da Costa left many implicit criticisms, some more than others, of Villas-Boas’ candidacy.
“Thank you for watching this wonderful utopia and this wonderful stream of lies. I promised an Academy four years ago and set it as a condition for me to re-apply. There were three conditions: that the Academy started, that we passed the eighth [na Champions] and that we get out of negative equity. It has been a dream for many years and a promise for four years. It doesn’t take a month, two or six to do this. They say this is an electoral asset. No, it is an asset for FC Porto for the future. To be better and better at promoting and training our players. I want to mention two people. Mr. architect Manuel Salgado, who dedicated himself to a project that was not only professional, but also a project from the heart. we are in the most beautiful stadium in Portugal, which was his work. It was a pleasure, congratulations on what you presented to us”, Pinto da Costa began by saying.
“The second reference is to Mr. Gaspar Borges [dirigente da empresa ABB, que vai construir a Academia]. I’ve known him for dozens of years. I always had the best impression of him and when we needed someone to collaborate with us, he made himself available. His vision allowed us to reach a successful conclusion. Faced with the threat that the word would be torn up, we had to put everything in writing safely, so that there are no deviations or delays in this project. Mr Gaspar, I am entirely grateful to you. Thank you very much”, continued the historic president.
