The Santa Casa doctor, at the time, suspected mistreatment and called the police after hospitalization. The child’s parents were arrested, but were released due to the judge’s lack of preventive detention order.

At the conclusion of the police investigation, the reports did not indicate any type of violence, with an undetermined cause. The expert conclusions indicated the child’s natural death.

According to the Civil Police, the procedure was archived because it showed no signs of crime.

According to the police report, on Friday (11), the mother took the child to the hospital in Monte Verde, district of Camanducaia, together with the grandfather. There, the doctor on duty identified that the girl would need to be intubated, however, it was not possible due to her clinical condition.

The child then needed to be transferred to Santa Casa de Camanducaia. According to the police report, the doctor informed the police that the girl was admitted to the hospital with bleeding from the mouth and nose and in a coma. As a result, she was intubated.

According to the report, the doctor responsible for the care reported that the child had a strong odor, was dirty with feces and urine, and was dehydrated. The baby also had some bruises on her hips, buttocks, ribs, forearm, oral and nasal bleeding and had breathing difficulties.

With the patient’s health condition, she would be transferred to the Samuel Libânio hospital in Pouso Alegre (MG). However, according to the police report, the girl arrived dead at the unit.

According to the police report, in Pouso Alegre, the doctor responsible for the care also confirmed that the child had injuries, mainly to the private parts, in addition to the suspicion of a bruise on the head on the left side.

Given the medical reports to the Military Police, the child’s parents were arrested red-handed in Camanducaia.

The couple, aged 24 and 28, were taken to the Pouso Alegre (MG) police station. They were represented by a public defender.

According to the information in the police report, the child’s grandparents told the police that the parents took good care of the girl, but the couple fought a lot. The same situation was reported by neighbors to the military.

The baby’s body was sent to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) to undergo examinations. The release will be made after the completion of the expert work.

Still on August 12, the Civil Police reported that the parents were sent to the prison system in the morning. However, in the early afternoon, the judge responsible for the case, Patrícia Vialli Nicolini, decreed the relaxation of the prison, canceled the custody hearing that would be held in the afternoon and the couple was released.

The reason for the release would be because the police authority and the prosecutor did not request preventive detention of the couple and because there was not yet a necroscopic report.
