The Golden Globes signed a five-year deal with CBS, one of the main North American television networks. Starting in 2025, the award ceremony, considered the kickoff to Hollywood’s awards season, will be broadcast by the broadcaster and the streaming platform Paramount+from the same group, in the United States.

The contract reinforces the change in direction of the award, which went offline in 2022, following rumors of corruption and racism against its former organizers. In the Land of Uncle Sam, the broadcaster has already broadcast this year’s edition, with a significant improvement in ratings. In Brazil, the 2024 Golden Globes were broadcast on TNT and HBO Max streaming, currently only Max.

“CBS supported the Golden Globes at a very difficult time and intrinsically understood its value, having the forward thinking, imagination and conviction to bring this iconic show to its many platforms,” said Jay Penske, owner and CEO, respectively, from Penske Media and Dick Clark Productions, who took over the program after the departure of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Following complaints in recent years against the group of journalists who created the award more than 80 years ago, it was dissolved. Now, the voting body has been expanded with a more diverse and global network.
