Nick Cave said he has feelings of guilt over the deaths of his sons Arthur and Jethro, because it is “against nature” to bury a child.

The 66-year-old musician lost his two children within seven years. In 2015, 15-year-old Arthur died after taking LSD for the first time and falling off a cliff near his home in Brighton, England.

In 2022, the artist once again experienced a difficult time after losing his son Jethro, aged 31, who had schizophrenia, and who died in Melbourne, Australia.

In an interview with the Guardian, Nck Cave spoke about the guilt he feels for having lost his two children. “I think it’s something that people who lose children feel regardless of the situation, simply because the only thing we should do is not let our children die,” he said.

“It is against nature to bury our children. And there cannot be no feelings of guilt”, he added.
