The euro also gave way against the pound and the yen.

The European Central Bank (ECB) set the euro exchange rate at 1.0811 dollars.

In today’s session, the euro fluctuated between 1.0776 and 1.0825 dollars.

This month, the unemployment rate in Germany fell by 0.1%, compared to February, and stood at 6%, with 2,769,000 unemployed, according to data from the Federal Employment Agency released today.

In turn, annual inflation grew to 2.3% in Portugal, 0.2 points more than in the previous month.

In the United States, unemployment benefit claims decreased by 2,000 in the week ending March 23, compared to the previous week, the US Department of Labor announced today.

The previous week, unemployment benefit claims in the world’s largest economy had been revised upwards slightly to 212,000 claims, according to data cited by financial agency Bloomberg.

Economists consulted by Bloomberg pointed to an average of 212,000 unemployment benefit claims.
