By Raphael Guerra, in JC — The investigation and trial hearing phase of the five men accused of participating in the robbery of judge Paulo Torres Pereira da Silva, aged 69, was concluded by the 1st Criminal Court of the District of Jaboatão dos Guararapes. This Wednesday (27), the delegate responsible for the investigation was interviewed. The defendants were also interrogated.

The process now enters the final phase. Judge Roberta Barcala Baptista Coutinho determined a period of five days for the prosecution, represented by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and for the defendants’ defense to present their final arguments in writing. After that, with the entire process in hand, the judge must publish the sentence. As this is a crime of robbery, there is no jury.

The first instruction hearing took place on February 28 of this year. On that occasion, seven prosecution witnesses, listed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, were heard in court. The defense of the accused replaced the three witnesses listed with a statement of conduct.

According to the Court of Justice of Pernambuco (TJPE), the following respond to the case: Marcos Vinícius Santana da Silva, Kauã Vinícius Alves da Rocha, Yuri Romenique Alves da Silva, Alcides da Silva Medeiros Júnior and Esdras Ferreira de Lima.

The first three are in pre-trial detention. The other two are on provisional release.
