The Civil Police of Barra Garças launched Operation Zayra this Tuesday morning (2), to comply with 18 court orders, including arrest warrants and search and seizure against a criminal organization involved in the murders of a father and daughter and in an attempt of homicide.
The court orders, including eight arrest warrants and 10 search and seizure warrants, are carried out in the cities of Aragarças (GO), Goiânia (GO), Aparecida de Goiânia (GO) and Rio de Janeiro (RJ), more specifically in the neighborhood Maré Complex.
The crime that killed João Vitor Menez Soares, 22 years old, and his daughter, just 2 years old, occurred on February 9, 2024, at the family’s residence, in the Jardim Nova Barra neighborhood, in Barra. At the time, two men in a vehicle parked near the residence, entered the house, shot the victims and then fled.
The victim’s wife was also shot and traveled in her own car to the UPA to help her 2-year-old daughter, but the child did not survive and died at the health unit.
As soon as the Barra do Garças Police Station team was notified of the facts, they began taking steps to investigate the crime, possibly motivated by a settlement of scores between members of a criminal organization.
With the evolution of the investigations, carried out with commitment and police techniques, it was possible to identify those involved, including authors, participants and other people who collaborated in the criminal enterprise.
Evidence of the participation of some of those involved was strengthened as the investigations progressed, including the location of the vehicle used to escape the suspects who directly participated in the execution.
Based on the elements collected and technical evidence, it was represented by judicial orders of arrest and search and seizure against those investigated, which were granted by the Court.
Zayra
The name of the operation has the meaning of naivety and purity, and refers to the 2-year-old child, shot to death, simply for being in the arms of his father who was involved in organized crime.
