Israel guarantees the opening of an investigation into what it considers to be the “serious incident” that led to the “tragic death” of seven employees of the non-governmental organization (NGO) World Central Kitchen, on Monday, in Gaza.

“As a professional army, committed to international law, we promise to examine our operations thoroughly and transparently,” said Israel Defense Forces spokesman Daniel Hagari.

Expressing “deep condolences” to the families of the victims, the Israeli forces state that the investigation, conducted by “an independent, professional and specialized organization”, will help reduce the risk of repeating an incident like the one involving World Central Kitchen, stressing the “noble mission” of the NGO.

“World Central Kitchen helped Israel after the October 7th massacre. They were one of the first NGOs here. The work of World Central Kitchen is fundamental. They are on the front lines of humanity”, highlighted Hagari.

The spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces assures that the investigation’s conclusions will be “shared transparently.”

Spain asks Netanyahu for explanations

In Jordan, one of the three countries he is visiting on his tour of the Middle East, the president of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez, lamented the death of workers at World Central Kitchen, an NGO founded by Spanish chef José Andrés.

Pedro Sànchez also demanded that the Israeli government clarify the circumstances of the tragedy. The statements by the leader of the Madrid executive were made in the Jabal Al-Hussein refugee camp of the Palestinian Refugee Support Agency (UNRWA) northwest of Amman.

Seven workers from World Central Kitchen were killed on Monday in Gaza, following an alleged Israeli attack, when they were traveling in two cars marked with the NGO’s letters.
