Two men were arrested last week for the crime of coercion during the process in Navegantes. According to the Civil Police, they threatened a witness to a murder committed this year in Itajaí.
According to Itajaí’s Criminal Investigation Division (DIC), the witness in the case had already reported being persecuted and threatened by the suspected mastermind of the crime a few days ago.
On the afternoon of last Wednesday (27), civil police officers went to the aforementioned witness’s workplace, in the city of Navegantes, to look for him when the suspect, accompanied by another man, was seen chasing the victim in a black vehicle.
In view of the facts, the vehicle was approached, which fled at high speed through the city center, causing risk to the population, until it collided with another vehicle in the parking lot of a supermarket.
One of the men was captured at the time of the accident, but the other continued running on foot and broke into a nearby residence, where he was captured. A machete was found inside the vehicle. Both of those approached resisted arrest and tried to break their cell phones.
The suspects were charged with the crime of coercion during the process, resistance, procedural fraud, dangerous driving and trespassing. One of them also had an open arrest warrant for drug trafficking.
The prisoners were sent to the Penitentiary System, where they remain at the disposal of the Justice.
