SC businessman who traveled by helicopter and Ferrari, accused of ordering murder

A well-known businessman from Santa Catarina, who bought the victim’s refrigerator in Encosta da Serra in Rio Grande do Sul, becomes a defendant as the person who ordered the murder. Almost four years after the crime, a famous businessman from Santa Catarina and two alleged accomplices became defendants for the murder of Adélcio Haubert, 65, former vice-mayor of Santa Maria do Herval. The judge of Dois Irmãos, Miguel Carpi Nejar, accepted the complaint against the three. They must go to jury. The crime, according to the Public Ministry, was financially motivated.

Haubert owned the Boa Vista meat processing plant, which was once the largest employer and source of income in Santa Maria do Herval. In May 2018, he decided to sell the slaughterhouse to Santa Catarina businessman CBC. The traditional firm was in judicial recovery. The buyer, who boasted business deals with nationally renowned artists and promised to rebuild the slaughterhouse with heavy investments, made an offer he couldn’t refuse. He offered R$10 million, in installments, with the commitment to resolve all debts and financing. The expectation of the significant investment matched appearances. CBC conveyed the image of a successful entrepreneur. It has already arrived at the company by helicopter, triumphantly, positively impacting employees and the population. But he didn’t pay the previous owner, nor did he honor his debts. Production began to fall even further. The promising business was beginning to turn out to be a million-dollar scam. Haubert began to collect the debt frequently, personally, at the meat processing plant. Annoyed by the charges, according to the Public Ministry, CBC ordered the creditor killed.

According to the complaint from the prosecutor, Bruno Amorim Carpes, sent to the forum, the businessman delegated the murder to two trusted employees. The Santa Catarina native’s main calling card was to present himself as a partner of country singers. The businessman from Cricium had ventures with the artist in Greater Florianópolis. There are photos and statements of the two in construction projects and horse breeding, published on social media and in the press in 2015. In recent years, the alleged mastermind bought several companies, from different sectors, in judicial recovery. In Rio Grande do Sul, the victim’s slaughterhouse would be the only one. It stopped working about two years after purchase, at the height of the pandemic. The extensive building structure is closed.
