The price of soybeans began the month of April maintaining the upward trajectory registered in March. On Monday (1/4), the indicator from the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea) reached R$124.67 per 60-kilo bag, an increase of 0.51% compared to the previous day. The reference based on business in the State of Paraná was R$ 120.23 per bag, an increase of 0.52% in the same comparison.

The movement is contrary to that of the Chicago stock exchange. This Tuesday, soybeans fell for the fifth consecutive session, amid a perception of high supply of the grain by market operators. The contract for May fell 0.99%, quoted at US$ 11.74 a bushel.

In the United States, the Department of Agriculture (USDA) indicates an increase in area and local stocks of the oilseed. Furthermore, export premiums are negative in several parts of the world, which reinforces the perception of supply exceeding demand.

In Brazil, one of the factors that explains the rise in soybean bags is the exchange rate, which once again exceeded R$5 per dollar. “The significant upward movement of the North American currency brought appreciation to the bag of soybeans traded in the interior of Brazil”, informs the consultancy Agrifatto.

In this scenario, a bag of soybeans is worth R$109.37 in Luis Eduardo Magalhães (BA), according to a survey by Scot Consultoria. In Rio Verde (GO), grain is priced at R$110 per bag; in Balsas (MA), at R$106; in Dourados (MS), at R$110; and in Sorriso and Lucas do Rio Verde, at R$106.

At the ports, Scot informs that a bag of soybeans is priced at R$125 in Rio Grande (RS) and R$126 in Santos (SP).
