Mother and son – Jucilene Barreiro and Vanderlei Barreiro da Silva – were arrested this Tuesday (2), in the Jardim Samambaia neighborhood, East of Campo Grande (MS), by agents from the Bank Robbery, Robbery and Kidnapping Suppression Police Station ( Garras) and the Special Operations Group (GOE-MT).
They are accused of hiring a gunman to execute shopkeeper Gersino Rosa dos Santos, alias “Nenê”, in Mato Grosso, believing that he was responsible for the death of Vanderlei’s brother, Girley da Silva.
The indictment indicates that the duo hired Silvio Júnior Peixoto, a gunman from the city of Uberlândia (MG), to execute “Nenê”. During the act, another victim, unrelated to the case, was also hit and died. Silvio was arrested in Uberlândia and confirmed that he had received R$10,000 from Vanderlei for the crime.
According to the police, the investigation into Girley’s death has not yet been completed and there is no evidence of “Nenê’s” participation. Furthermore, in the residence where Jucilene and Vanderlei were found, firearms were seized and will be examined.
