Man interrupts trial and shoots at accused of father’s murder in Pernambuco

Security cameras recorded the moment a jury was interrupted in the city of São José do Belmonte, in Pernambuco, by a shooting attack. Francisco Cleidivaldo Mariano de Moura was on trial for the murder of a man when he was shot by Cristiano Alves Terto, the victim’s son. The case occurred on November 29 last year but only now have images of what happened been released.

In the security camera recording, it is possible to observe the moment when Terto gets up and goes towards the defendant. A person tries to restrain the shooter, who manages to free himself and shoots the man accused of murdering his father several times.

A riot breaks out at the Dr. Geraldo Sobreira de Moura Forum, where the trial was taking place. Terto still strikes with the gun and then no longer appears in the recording.

According to the Court of Justice of Pernambuco (TJPE), after the shooting, the shooter was pursued by the Forum police and the Civil Police, being arrested in the act with the murder weapon.

At the time, the defendant, who was hit by the gunshots, was taken to the Hospital de São José de Belmonte, and later transferred to the Hospital de Serra Talhada.

According to the TJPE, Francisco Cleidivaldo Mariano de Moura, who until then was on trial for the crime of murder, is alive and free as the trial has not been resumed and remains without a date. Cristiano Alves Terto, the shooter, remains in prison and is charged with attempted murder.
