The price of subscriptions to Spotify it may be more expensive. According to information from Bloomberg, the platform is planning another increase, but this time it should not be as significant. The last adjustment of the music streaming service in Brazil took place in July 2023, with an increase of up to R$3 in the “Individual” and “Duo” plans.

Spotify may increase prices

According to BloombergO Spotify will increase the “Individual” plan by US$ 1 and the “Family” and “Duo” plans by US$ 2. This change is expected to occur in the United Kingdom, Australia, Pakistan and two other markets by the end of April. The adjustment should also reach the United States by the end of 2024.

The justification for increasing prices would be related to the additional costs of the audiobooks offered to users, who can listen to up to 15 hours of digital books per month. It is worth remembering that the platform has grown to become the second largest audiobook service, behind only Audible.

Fortunately, there is a way out for those who want to avoid the adjustment: just migrate to a new individual plan that will only offer music and podcasts for US$11 per month. In this plan, access to audiobooks will be charged separately.

A Bloomberg also reports that the Spotify is planning to launch a plan called “Supremium,” which would include Lossless music streaming and other additional features. For now, the company has not yet officially announced the price increase, nor do we know whether Brazil will be affected.
