A shocking crime scared the residents of Contenda, in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba, in the early hours of this Wednesday (3). A man is suspected of killing his wife with a shot to the head, in front of the couple’s children, and then taking his own life. Mônica Padilha and Aramis Oliveira had been together for more than 15 years.
The crime against his wife took place in the couple’s home. On Tuesday night (2), after returning from a service at the church she attended, Mônica found her husband at the residence. According to witnesses, at this point there was an initial argument and the woman left the house and went to a friend’s store.
Wife is killed after returning from church
There, Mônica bought perfume for her husband, however, when she returned home, close to midnight, the couple started fighting again. Aramis grabbed a gun and shot it at his companion’s head.
“The little guy (the couple’s son) said he saw his father with the gun in his hand, but he was afraid to tell his mother. When he saw it, he was already shooting at her. She would have put her hand in front of the gun,” said Josiane Soares, Mônica’s neighbor and friend.
The 9-year-old child witnessed the moment his mother was killed by his father. Afterwards, Aramis took the family car and headed towards BR-476, known as Rodovia do Xisto. At km 171, the car was found stopped, with the man dead inside the vehicle. A 38 caliber gun was also located.
“My husband and the boys looked for him, because he told his son ‘that if he killed his mother he would kill himself’. He left and it didn’t take long, they went looking and someone found him in BR”, added Josiane.
The couple had two children and had been together for more than 15 years. In December 2020, Aramis shared photos from the wedding.
