Woman is run over by a reversing car in Varginha

The collision occurred at the intersections of João Evangelista de Lima and Dona Altamira streets. Images from a security camera show that the woman was hit by the vehicle in reverse.

According to the Military Police, the 78-year-old woman was admitted to Bom Pastor Hospital with serious injuries and did not survive.

After checking security cameras at the scene, the police found that the vehicle that caused the accident was a Fiat/Palio, Weekend model, green.

The driver of the car that had caused the accident was duly identified as a 23-year-old man. Searches were carried out in order to locate him, but to date, he has not been found.

The body of Irís Maria Reis Rodrigues was laid to rest in the Municipal Cemetery and buried during the afternoon of Tuesday (2).

The Civil Police informed that other information about the case will be passed on as the investigation progresses so as not to compromise progress.
