Gastronomic Fair returns to Castanheira de Pera from today to Sunday

Castanheira de Pera is preparing to host the third edition of the “Gastronomia em Movimento” fair, in an even larger space to once again welcome the flavors and traditions, which will be highlighted from today until Sunday.
«In the second edition we expanded the tent and restaurant area, which led us to create an even larger area to welcome those who will visit us in the coming days. Demand has been growing and we have prepared the fair for that same growth», the mayor of Castanheira de Pera highlighted to our newspaper.
«Strengthening local commerce», at a time when «seasonality is great», is one of the «main» objectives of the event, as well as publicizing «the best that is done in the municipality and the region». «We are going to the third edition and, through experience, we realize that these events generate flow and that some people end up spending the weekend and creating dynamics in local accommodation, restaurants and traditional products», highlighted António Henriques.
According to the mayor, the fair, organized by the municipal company Prazilândia, «will be very similar to last year» with the presence of exhibitors with endogenous products, gastronomy competitions for amateurs and professionals, workshops, children’s entertainment and various shows.
Artists well known to the public will take to the stage at Praça da Notabilidade, such as Jorge Guerreiro (today, at 10:30 pm), Iran Costa (Saturday, at 11:00 pm), Fernando Rocha (Friday, at 11:00 pm) and DJs Luís Pinheiro and Hugo Rafael (today), Vassalo and Tiago Silva (Friday). The official opening of the gastronomic fair is scheduled for 7pm today, to the sound of Orquestra Geração.
The fair opens on other days at 12pm and the program includes, in addition to concerts, showcooking with several chefs, pizza workshops and olive oil tasting and gastronomic competitions for professionals and amateurs. Reference is also made to the Saturday afternoon program, which features performances from the Grupo dos Sargaceiros da Casa do Povo de Apúlia, the Rancho Folclórica da Ribeira and the Companhia de Dança Raquel Oliveira. The contest closes on Sunday at 11pm.
