Police arrest mother and son accused of breaking into home and killing 2

Cattle rancher Inês Gemilaki and her son, doctor Bruno Gemilaki Dal Poz, who were on the run from justice for a double homicide in Peixoto de Azevedo, handed themselves in to the police on Tuesday afternoon (23).

Two other suspects involved in the crime, the brothers Márcio Ferreira Gonçalves and Eder Gonçalves Rodrigues, had already been arrested this Tuesday morning in Alta Floresta.

They are accused of breaking into a residence and firing shots, killing two people. The crime resulted in the deaths of Pilson Pereira da Silva, aged 65, and Rui Luiz Bogo, aged 57. A priest was shot, underwent surgery and is out of danger.

Videos from the local press show mother and son entering the police station in silence, ignoring questions asked by the press.

Inês arrived at the police station covering her face with a cold sweater; Bruno didn’t hide his face.

The prison

According to the Civil Police, mother and son were on a family-owned farm, located on BR-060, 180 kilometers from Peixoto de Azevedo.

The location is far from the city and difficult to access, with more than 85 kilometers of dirt road.

The arrests occurred after the family’s lawyer contacted the Civil Police to communicate her clients’ intention to surrender and request that they be accompanied to the farm, where they were hiding.

Arrest warrants were served on the property. However, the firearms and the Ford Ranger truck, used on the day of the crime, have not yet been found.

The crime

On Sunday afternoon (21), the family went to the residence where their target was, in Bairro Alvorada, and killed two innocent people, according to the Civil Police.

The crime was filmed by security cameras, and the images show Inês carrying a revolver, while her son, doctor Bruno, holds a shotgun.

In the videos it is possible to see that the woman enters the house and shoots one of the victims, who is lying on the floor, a few meters away.

Then she goes to two other men, who are hiding behind the sofa, and points the gun at one of them. It is not possible to see whether she shot the second victim.

After the murders, the family fled in a Ford Ranger, heading to Pará, the Police reported.
