Man who disappeared is found dead in Blumenau

An 85-year-old man was found dead on Monday night (22) on a trail in the Garcia neighborhood, in Blumenau, in Vale do Itajaí. According to his family, he went into the forest to collect vines, which he used to make brooms, and never returned.

On Monday afternoon, around 2pm, the elderly man was seen by his wife entering the woods. At the end of the day, he did not return home. The family was surprised by the change in behavior and called the Military Fire Department headquarters asking for help in locating him.

A search team with five firefighters accompanied by the elderly man’s son, who knew a little about the search area, was mobilized. Around 9pm the search for the elderly man began. It took about 40 minutes to cover steep terrain and explore the trails frequently used by humans in the forest.

Approximately 1000 meters from the starting point, firefighters located the body of the fallen elderly man, without vital signs and showing stiffness. The Scientific Police were called to investigate. The cause of death has not been reported at this time.
