Since 2011/12, the Council of the Educational Community of the Basic School of the 2nd and 3rd Cycles of Torre, established the Best Student Award, with the aim of rewarding students’ merit and encouraging them not only to have a good academic performance, but still encourage them to develop their abilities in the area of knowing how to be and knowing how to be.
With this award, the school also intends to meet the provisions of Article 9 of the Student Statute (Regional Legislative Decree no. 21 / 2013 / m) which recommends the creation of merit awards designed to distinguish students who in each school cycle stand out.
The main objective of this initiative is to reward students who distinguished themselves throughout the 2022/23 academic year within each class and also by year of schooling.
Thus, today, April 24, 2024, at 12:00 p.m., in the auditorium in the Sports Pavilion of the Torre Basic School for the 2nd and 3rd cycles, the Prize for the best student for the previous academic year will be awarded.
In addition to a certificate and a trophy, offered by Casa do Povo de Câmara de Lobos, all awarded students will receive a set of souvenirs offered by different companies and institutions, which have collaborated with this initiative over the last few years.
This ceremony is attended by the regional secretary of Education, Science and Technology, Jorge Carvalho, the vice-president of the Municipal Chamber of Câmara de Lobos, Sónia Pereira, the president of the Parish Council of Câmara de Lobos, Celso Bettencourt, with the nurse Sérgio Oliveira, president of the Casa da do Povo de Câmara de Lobos, the president of the Executive Council of the Basic School of the 2nd and 3rd Cycles of Torre, Zulay Freitas, and with the president of the Educational Community Council, José Xavier Dias .
The award-winning students, their respective guardians and other members of the educational community will be present at the ceremony. The ceremony will also feature some musical and dance moments and at the end of it, certificates of participation will be handed out to a group of adult learners and their respective trainers, from CEPA D. Juan I, from Alcalá de Henares, who are at the school of Tower under the Erasmus+ program.
It should also be noted that the initiative in question this year is part of the vast program of activities planned for the celebrations of the school’s 30th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of April 25th, organized by the CHS and Expressions departments.
