The Disciplinary Board of the Portuguese Football Federation opened an urgent disciplinary process this Wednesday regarding the incidents in the game between Desportivo de Chaves and Estoril, on the 30th round of the League, which was marked by an invasion of field.

«Initiation of disciplinary proceedings, with assignment of an urgent nature, to Grupo Desportivo de Chaves – Futebol SAD, Pedro Álvaro, Marcelo Carné, Nuno Diogo, André das Neves Paquete de Oliveira, Tiago Araújo, Vasco Seabra and António Baptista Nobre, by decision of the Professional Section», says the FPF CD in a statement.

According to the document, the opening of this process is due to the «constant factuality of the official game reports and the participation presented by Estoril Praia Futebol SAD» and overlaps with the punishments that, in the meantime, will be disclosed on the summary map, since the Disciplinary Council understands that there is a connection between the field invasion and the resulting expulsions. That is, the punishments that are disclosed in the meantime will remain ineffective until the conclusion of this disciplinary process.

«The process was sent, on April 24, 2024, to the Liga Portugal Instructors Commission, with advertising excluded until the end of the instruction», adds the disciplinary body.

We remember that in the game played on Sunday in Chaves, there was a pitch invasion during the added time period that evolved into disrespect and aggression between Flavian fans and Estoril players, with goalkeeper Marcelo Carné and defender Pedro Álvaro attacking be sent off with a straight red card.

After a break of around twenty minutes, the game resumed, with the home team reaching 2-2 with a goal in the 90th minute, through Morim, when striker João Carlos defended Estoril’s goal, due to to the expulsion of Marcelo Carné, at a time when the Canarian emblem had already run out of substitutions.
