Late this Wednesday morning, the 24th, the Civil Police arrested a man suspected of participating in the murder of psychologist Fabiana Maia Veras, aged 42, who died on the afternoon of Tuesday 23rd, in Assu, in the west of Rio Grande do Norte.
The arrest was made in the act by civil police officers from the 97th Assú Police Station (97th DP), the Homicide and Personal Protection Division (DHPP) and the Qualified Investigation Center (NIQ), this Wednesday 24. The agents arrested the 41-year-old suspect in the Nova Descoberta neighborhood, South Zone of Natal.

The main line of investigation into the motivation for the homicide points to a crime of passion.
Investigations and arrest
According to investigations, the man arrived at the victim’s property and establishment on Tuesday afternoon (23), around 5 pm, hooded, wearing a mask and surgical gloves. The psychologist’s body was found in the early evening by an employee. Immediately, the Civil Police on-duty team was called and carried out initial investigations at the scene of the incident. After an approach carried out by civil police officers, the suspect was detained and captured. The Technical-Scientific Institute of Expertise (ITEP) was called to carry out forensic examinations and the man will be taken to the Assú Police Station for the arrest to be drawn up.
Fabiana Veras was found dead inside the house where she lived. Experts from the Technical-Scientific Institute of Forensics (ITEP) completed the examination in the case of the psychologist’s murder. According to the analysis, the victim was killed by blows from a sharp object, possibly a knife. Evidence suggests that the victim fought against the attacker, as he had cuts on his hands.
Information from the Assu police station revealed that the victim had three registered firearms. Other 12 and 40 caliber ammunition were also found. However, the weapons were not taken by the killer. The suspicion is that the attacker only stole the victim’s cell phone to obstruct the investigations.
