2. How was the victim found?

According to the police, Fabiana was found in one of the rooms of the property by a clinic employee. She was gagged, tied up and had marks from stab wounds.

The man arrested this Wednesday (24) suspected of committing the crime is a member of the Rio Grande do Norte Court of Justice. He is 41 years old, according to the Civil Police. Until the most recent update of this report, the TJRN had not commented on the server’s arrest.

4. What was the motivation for the crime?

The Civil Police are still investigating the motivation for the crime, but one of the lines is the possibility of the psychologist having a close relationship with the suspect’s ex-partner.

Assú’s delegate, Valério Kurten, explained that he will request the extraction of data from the suspect’s cell phone to have a more precise motivation. “There is a lot of information that arrives, but the information is accurate, correct, only from the analysis of the cell phone,” he said.

The victim’s cell phone was found destroyed in the suspect’s apartment, but the expert was able to verify it through the IMEI [código de identificação do celular] that it was the psychologist’s device.

“His intention, everything indicates, was to look for this cell phone, which he brought to Natal and destroyed, to get the contents, to find out what type of relationship he had with his ex-partner”, explained the Homicide Division delegate and Protection for the Person of Natal (DHPP), Márcio Lemos.

5. Did the victim and suspect know each other?

According to Assú’s police chief, Valério Kurten, it is possible to say that the two knew each other due to the way they greeted each other when he arrived at her house, a fact that was recorded on video by security cameras.

“She hugs him, so you can see that there is an affectionate gesture. So, yes, they knew each other”, he stated.

The delegate also reinforced that she showed trust in him despite the suspect having arrived at the scene of the crime with a scarf on his head, a surgical mask, and gloves.

“She was surprised by her clothing, but she responded, took him, and then we saw the image of him leaving with a hand full of blood. And, with the images, we learned about the vehicle that transported him,” he stated.

6. How did the police get to the suspect?

The delegates explained that the first step was to analyze the images from the home’s security cameras and then investigate the images from the street camera system in the city of Assú.

“We discovered the vehicle’s license plate and, given this, with the information that he had possibly gone to Natal, I requested the support of our Civil Police intelligence department”, explained the Assú police chief, Valério Kurten.

“They went out into the field, collected other information and were able to reach the suspect’s address,” he added.

7. What was found on the suspect?

The suspect was arrested upon arriving at one of his properties, in Natal. Inside his car, police officers and experts from the Technical-Scientific Institute of Expertise (Itep) found a bag with three knives, two brass knuckles and a pistol with blood on it.

Even before the suspect arrived, the teams were already carrying out an examination of his apartment. In addition to the psychologist’s cell phone, they found fragments that could be blood on the building’s stairs and inside the suspect’s apartment.

The material was collected and sent for analysis in the laboratory, which will determine whether the fragments are indeed blood, and try to identify the genetic profile of the material.

8. Is anyone else involved?

The delegates explained that the suspect of killing the psychologist hired a driver who was a family friend for R$500 to travel from Natal to Assú, which is 240 kilometers away. His allegation to the driver was that he had a psychiatric appointment to make in the city.

Police chief Valério Kurten explained that the driver was interviewed by the police and it was found that he had no involvement in the crime. Thus, he was released.
